COVID-19 Policy

People are more important than larp.

People’s health is immensely more important than larp.

For Make A Scene 2026, attendees must provide proof of 2025 vaccination and proof of a negative Covid-19 test. (A rapid test is sufficient.) Additionally, N95 masks are required in indoor spaces.

This plan’s goal is to keep Make A Scene 2026 participants as safe, healthy, and informed as possible regarding Covid-19 considerations. This includes how you get to participate in making this a covid-safer event. As organizers, we are committed to full and open communication throughout the process.

Basic Plan

  1. MASK UP.  Masking has the best reliability at preventing the spread of covid.
  2. VAX UP.  We need to see proof.
  3. TEST IT: attendees must provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken no more than 24 hours before arrival at the festival (a rapid test, such as Binax, is sufficient).
  4. KEEP COMMUNICATING: Our goal is to communicate as much as possible so everyone knows what’s happening. We will keep registrants up-to-date on all decisions regarding the festival.
Is Covid-19 vaccination mandatory for Make A Scene 2026?

YES, absolutely, if it’s at all possible for you to do so.

We strongly recommend all attendees get the fall 2025 covid vaccine before attending the festival. The Minnesota Department of Health has stated that in Minnesota you don’t need a reason or to be at extra risk to receive this important annual vaccination.

Ideally you will have had the 2025 covid vaccine at least two weeks before the festival. Bring proof of vaccination status for inspection during check in: your card, a picture of it, or a document on your phone. If you lack documentation, this article can help. If you can’t access documentation or can’t access the vaccine, we’ll accept your personal signed attestation. Please reach out to us if you have questions, have trouble accessing proof of your vaccination, would like to request an exception based on vaccine availability in your area, or an exception with a doctor’s note.

Will attendees be masked at Make a Scene?

YES, with some exceptions.

N95/KN95 respirators or better are required for festival attendees. Masks with equivalent filtration power such as Flo or Vogmask are also acceptable. We will also have plenty of masks to share. Take note of the exceptions to our universal masking policy:

Our venue is a publicly accessible building and Make a Scene is not the only event happening at CFPA that weekend. We require our attendees to mask, but other folks in common areas likely will not be masking.

Individual scenario playgroups under ten participants may choose to forego masks. This decision is made with an anonymous polling method and requires universal consent: only if everyone in the room wants to go without masks can it happen. Depending on case rates this summer, we may withdraw this choice as a possibility for our festival.

Make a Scene registration includes vegan meals. Participants won’t be able to mask while eating, and we ask them to return to masking when they are done eating. There is some outdoor seating where folks can eat as well.

Will there be air filtration?

YES, we are partnering with Share Clean Air MSP to provide HEPA filtration in each playspace and far-UVC torches at meal times.

Will attendees take a rapid test before Make a Scene?

YES, on the first day.

Attendees will need to show a negative rapid covid test when they check in, taken the same day. We prefer you test at home, and we’ll have a few on hand if you forget. Attendees won’t be required to re-test on subsequent days of the festival.
